When I launched I decided to post twice a week on Monday and Thursday mornings! 15 posts later I had a crisis – I was completely out of content. I had shared everything I knew about “Leading With Questions.” I suddenly understood why I had seen other blogs with a flurry of activity and then nothing – most likely they ran out of content!
That morning I whispered one of those very short prayers – it was actually a question: “Lord What Do I Do Now?”
And instantly the answer came to me: When I launched my blog I did a quick google search to see if anyone else was blogging exclusively in this niche of “Leading With Questions.” Although I did not find anyone, I did find individual posts on much broader leadership blogs that related to my niche. That morning the answer that came to me was to do some more google research to find some excellent previously posted “Leading With Questions” type posts and then to figure out the email address of the blogger and ask them if I might have permission to “Repost” their “Post” as a “Guest Post” on my blog with full attribution to them.
That morning I sent out five email requests. I had no idea if this would work. But within 24 hours I had 5 positive responses. The first one came from Mitch Ditkoff and his “Guest Post: “Why You Need to Ask Why” posted on May 10, 2012.
As you may likely know, today, I am much more of a “Curator” of “Leading With Questions” content than an “Orginator.” And you and my other subscribers – which today includes Leaders from over 190 countries are the beneficiaries. To date there have been 415 Guest Post Authors! You are learning from Great Leaders around the Globe!
In June, 2012 one of my colleagues sent me a book, “Power Questions” by Jerold Panas and Andrew Sobel. It was a page turner for me. I read the whole book in one weekend. On Monday morning I sent Jerold and Andrew an email thanking them for spending their weekend with me and asking if I might have their kind permission to “Excerpt” from their book? To my delight and surprise, about 15 minutes later, Andrew Sobel called me. We had a delightful conversation and he gave me cart blanche permission to excerpt from “Power Questions.” The first “Excerpt: Good Questions Trump Easy Answers” posted on July 2, 2012. To date I have been privileged to “Excerpt” from 77 terrific books and you again have been the beneficiary!
October 19, 2015 was the release of my first book “Great Leaders ASK Questions – A Fortune 100 List.” In April, 2016 it was released as a free MP3 Audiobook. Originally the idea was simply to create a book with 100 of my favorite questions. But once the top 100 questions were compiled they simply looked kind of flat – kind of like laying out all the ingredients on the counter for making chocolate chip cookies. The ingredients by themselves are not all that inviting. But once baked, I will not only want one – I will likely ask if I can have 2 or 3? So, I went back to provide a couple of sentences (in some cases: a couple of paragraphs) of context around each question – and the result was “Great Leaders ASK Questions – A Fortune 100 List.” Within two weeks it had been downloaded by Leaders in over 100 countries.
Soon, I began to hear from Spanish speaking colleagues, who also spoke English asking if I would please consider having “Great Leaders ASK Questions” translated into Spanish. I quickly agreed and on September 8, 2016 we released “Los Grandes Líderes HACEN Preguntas.” as both a free Spanish eBook and Audiobook.
“339 Questions Jesus Asked” in November, 2017.
“Now That’s a Great Question” in April 2019.
“Little Book of BIG LeadingWithQuestions Quotes” in April, 2021.
And today there are eBooks and Audiobooks available, not only in Spanish, but also Simplified and Traditional Chinese, French and Polish. And soon in Portuguese and Albanian – with promise of Romanian to come after that. All available for free download by clicking HERE
With the release of the first book, something else began to happen! I began to get invitations to both speak and to be a guest on many podcasts. You can listen/view multiple podcasts by clicking HERE
And then with the arrival of covid I began to receive invitations from across the U.S. and around the Globe asking if I might be able to do a Zoom Leading With Questions Webinar for their group. Companies/Organizations who prior to covid only wanted in person training were now looking for what they could share with their staff virtually! And I was delighted to respond affirmatively that it would be my pleasure to do so! If I could be of service to your company/organization please know it would be my pleasure to do so. Please reach out to me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Earlier this month we announced the launch of a Spanish LeadingWithQuestions.com website/blog in partnership with Roberto Bendara. Click HERE to visit. And of course please share this link with all those in the shadow of your influence who speak Spanish.
As you know – everything I do on social media is free! Subscribing to my blog is free! Downloading my eBooks and/or Audiobooks in multiple languages is all free!
Here is the favor that I am requesting – would you please share the photo below and sample copy (which of course you, if you wish, are free to personalize)?
