Bob Tiede’s Implementation of Four Key Commitments for Expanding Reach

Guest Post by Becky Robinson

I met Bob Tiede in 2013, and my team and I have had the pleasure of supporting his online presence for almost a decade — nearly the entire tenure at Leading With Questions. I’ve been amazed by Bob’s work and how he has grown his influence and impact. When Bob offered me the opportunity to host a guest blog post in support of the launch of my book tomorrow, I gladly accepted – because I’d love the chance to tell you about how Bob lives out the four commitments I outline in my book. I’d also love to ask you to consider if you might take a journey similar to the one Bob has taken over the last ten years.

My book is Reach: Create the Biggest Possible Audience for Your Message, Book, or Cause. In my book, I define reach as expanding the audience plus lasting impact. I admire Bob because his journey exemplifies BOTH. Over the past few years, he’s grown his audience from a few hundred people on his email list to more than 10,000. His audience and sphere of influence is worldwide with his creation and translation of his books into multiple languages. The value Bob shares through his work is also having a lasting impact on the people who read his content and follow him.

Quickly, I want to relate this to the four commitments I believe anyone needs to make in order to create true reach: value, consistency, generosity, and longevity.

Value: Bob has committed himself to sharing value through his blog by bringing together the best ideas from thought leaders related to his topic of leading with questions. He has created additional value through a range of ebook, audio, and printed resources.

Consistency: Bob creates content regularly – with blog posts several times each week. He continues to develop and share his other longer resources on a regular basis.

Generosity: Bob does all of this work for free, making his resources available to anyone who wants to download them! He looks for ways to share other value at no cost with his audiences, including a recent shipment of Mark Miller’s book Smart Leadership to hundreds of leaders in his network. Bob’s generosity enables him to grow an expanding audience.

Longevity: Bob is celebrating 10 years of consistent sharing of value with online audiences.

Bob gets a gold star on all four commitments!

If you have watched Bob from afar and wondered how he does it, or if you would like to grow reach for your message, book, or cause, consider the following questions:

  1. What is the value you want to bring to the world?
  2. What topics are you interested in sharing with others?
  3. Are you interested in growing your online influence to make a difference in the world?
  4. What do you think it takes to grow online influence?
  5. Do you have an existing audience? Would you like it to grow?
  6. Are you committed to showing up online with value to others?
  7. Are you willing to be consistent in sharing value online?
  8. How generous are you willing to be with your content?
  9. Are you willing to take a long-term approach to your online presence?
  10. The Final Question: Would you like to be like Bob?

My hope is that Reach will be your helpful companion as you seek to make a difference with your life and work. It will take more time, energy, and resources than you might expect — anything worthwhile does — but your investment in sharing value with others will have resonance beyond your expectations. I look forward to hearing from you with any questions, comments, or stories of your success.   Click HERE to order Reach: Create the Biggest Possible Audience for Your Message, Book, or Cause today!

P.S. If you haven’t yet heard, Bob is having a special virtual party to celebrate the 10th anniversary of! I hope you’ll consider joining the party  at noon ET on Monday, April 25.  If you can’t make it, Bob is sending out a recording to all registrants.
